Artist withdraws $190,000 in twenties when his bank won’t give him a mortgage

Successful New Zealand artist Roger Griffiths closed his account with his bank, Westpac, by withdrawing his savings of NZ$190,000 – in twenties – when they refused him for a mortgage despite the fact that he had been with them for 25 years and has never missed a loan repayment. He then deposited the cash in a local community based building society, his point being ‘If you don’t support the community, the community won’t support you.’
Damn straight… I like this guy 🙂 See full details of the story over at Boing Boing.
