The silly season is upon us again, which gives me the perfect excuse to go hunting on Etsy for gift ideas (as if I needed a reason…). Jewellery first – here’s a little collection of pretty sparkly things I found for all the Moms, sisters, daughters, friends and girlfriends; all handcrafted – you won’t find these in the shops 🙂
Sweetness & Light
Dark & Dramatic
All of the above Etsy shops are full of gorgeous handcrafted pieces, but I had to give a special mention to Opus Muse as I really really liked most of the things in this one!
Part two of my trip down geekery lane…
I’m completely smitten with the work of Sarajevo born artist and illustrator Yellena James, which has been described as “colorful arrangements of organic shapes and tangled lines which are at once floral and alien, organic and sci-fi, crafty and fantastic.”
Her clients already include some serious names like Anthropologie, Adidas, K2 Snowboards and Nike, and as well as being displayed at galleries worldwide, she has been featured in Vogue Australia, Giant Robot, Domino Online, Design Sponge and Apartment Therapy among others.
Adding it to the wishlist – absolute genius 🙂

RikRak Studio is a home based business selling wonderful hand made one of a kind homewares and accessories. Each piece is made from repurposed vintage fabric by Krystal, who started to craft when her grandmother taught her how to quilt and sew while she was pregnant with her son. From there, she has built her business successfully from her home in Ottawa, Canada and has sold thousands of pieces, both on Etsy and from over 90 stores around the world. (Read more of her inspirational story in this Etsy interview).
I love Krystals’ work – she chooses the most vibrant fabrics, and everything is finished to such a high standard – there are a few things from her shop going on my wish list for sure 🙂
