Ok, this is Bughouse’s LP sleeve coffee table.  It’s cool and all, but the LP covers are reproductions, not the real thing, which would have been a lot cooler.  However – I reckon this is totally DIY-able for anyone with a bit of patience, classic album covers and some epoxy resin… anyone tried it?

London based furniture designer Naomi Dean, who was awarded the Young Furniture Designer Of  The Year award in 2005, diverts old office furniture from landfill to make her Spin Tables and Tiny Footprint Desks.  Her sleek and functional pieces incorporate design details such as cable tidies that allow a laptop to charge while the desk is closed, and modular coffee tables on castors which can be bought as a pair to make a larger unit.

Reddish was founded in 2002 by Israeli  Industrial designers Naama Steinbock and Idan Friedman.  Their clever and unusual designs include a tattooed table, a digital cuckoo clock and a cross-stitched bread board – and according to themselves, they ‘spend most of the time helping objects feel better about themselves.’

Continuing on with the skateboarding theme: The 360 Table by The Future Perfect.  While I won’t be dropping $1795 on one of these, I’m definitely having some DIY ideas for all of those spare trucks I have lying around the house 😛

Every once in a while I stumble upon an artist or designer whose work just makes me beam from ear to ear – in this case it’s British textile designer Zoe Murphy.  Zoe’s repurposed mid century pieces and vintage textiles are printed with imagery inspired by her beloved home town of Margate – her ethos is ‘love what belongs to you’.

She has already had her work shortlisted for the BBC New Designer Of The Year Award, and exhibited at Free Range design shows, New Designers 2008 and The Old Town Gallery in Margate, even though she only graduated from university last year.  I’ll be keeping up to date with her work on her blog, as I can’t wait to see more from her.
